Champions of Gaming Community Blog

By Damon "MPDamon" Peterson

Hello Everyone!  MPDamon here bringing you an update on my Champions of Gaming run.  I missed you last week with the holiday and some kids stuff.  If you have kids you know the feeling when one gets sick and everything becomes second to your child's health.  I'm happy to say that she's doing much better and things are back to normal which means nightly gaming for Dad.

Unfortunately I have changed my focus with the hopes of having a slight chance of making the cut.  As you know two weeks ago I was hopeful of being a Tri-Sport gamer with EA SPORTS Soccer, Madden, NBA Live or one of the two other titles.  I have decided now that I am going to concentrate on just EA Sports Soccer and a little Madden.  I'm hopeful that I can get in enough games with EA SPORTS Soccer to make the cut but it's doubtful with Madden.

Since my first blog my record in EA SPORTS Soccer has moved from 3-2 to 15-9 and I had a week where I was 6-0.  As of last night my overall rank is 978. It could easily be a lot worse or much better as I have had some very exciting endings to these games.   Looking at the leader boards it's amazing and wonderful how many games guys are getting in to make the cut of the contest.  As of last night the overall leader was Zizzu5 with 89 wins and only 6 losses.   I would love to play Zizzu5 just to see how someone at the top gets it done.  While Zizzu5's win-loss record is special the guys below him have done it with sheer numbers.  SickWitlt1010 is second with a record of 166-29.  DiscoVictor comes in third with a whopping 354 wins and 86 losses.  JURIV is fourth at 222-54 and rounding out the top 5 is cervantesson  at 214-66.   Congrats to the overall top 5 for EA SPORTS Soccer 09.  If someone would like to fill in for me at work or maybe just pay me to play Soccer I could attempt to catch these guys.  Let me know if there are any takers.

In most of my games I have been rolling with Man U.  Being able to get Cristiano Ronaldo down the sideline has helped me score goals as he seems to be spot on with every cross.   My opponents are usually Barcelona,  Arsenal and the new one I have been seeing Inter (F.C. Internazionale Milano).   I have had the most problems containing Inter as they just seem to have so much speed up front.  Below is my recent games list.

KLS13210                     Win        4-3          Inter
MONEY CHANGA 09         Loss       1-2          Milan
aTRUEGANGSTA210        Win        3-0          Juventus
aTRUEGANGSTA210        Win        1-0          Bayern Munchen
zaydebk                        Win        2-0          Arsenal
zaydebk                        Win        3-0          Barcelona
Jalm84                          Win        5-1          Mexico
Jalm84                          Win        2-1          Mexico
tombino2323                  Loss       5-1          Inter
tombino2323                  Win        4-3          Inter
tombino2323                  Loss       0-4          Inter

My game against KLS13210 last night was quite exciting.  Another Inter opponent had me worried from the start but I managed to get an early 1-0 lead with a excellent low cross from Ronaldo to Rooney who finished strong.   For the rest of the half though it was all Inter taking a 3-1 lead with perfect through balls to the speedy strikers.  I played it safe early in the first half but with about 70 minutes played I decided to change my strategy to an all out attack and either make it interesting or lose by a lot.  The plan worked as I got two late goals with Ronaldo creating havoc on the right side.   I was actually a little disappointed at the end of extra time tied 3-3 as I had pounded the posts and crossbar on my opponents net only to be denied the game winning goal sending us to a shootout.  This shootout win was probably my cleanest but there were no goalie hero's in this one.   Inter missed the goal entirely on the 5th penalty and it was Ronaldo who hit a solid strike into the back of the net for the win.   I felt very lucky to take away a victory in this matchup and applaud KLS13210 for a match well played.   Until next week... Happy Gaming Everyone!

I had my first game last night, dont know why i waited so long to sign up.. But the final score was 41-14. I would have had 42 but he kept going offsides and blocking my kick, and i got tired of it. Finished with 221 rushing yards....it was pretty fun.

It's crazy the number of games people can play when they set their mind to it. I remember a couple of times we did a "24 Hours of Madden" contest to see who could play the most games in a 24 hour period. One guy played 24 games straight and took the crown.
