REDWOOD CITY, Calif., - June 1, 2009 - Electronic Arts Inc., (NASDAQ: ERTS) announced today that an all-new fighting title is in development at EA Tiburon in Orlando, under the EA SPORTSTM brand. EA SPORTS MMA will be available in 2010 on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system and the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system.

EA SPORTS MMA will feature the most authentic, intense and broad mixed martial arts experience to date - complete with a vast array of top fighters and fighting styles from around the world.

"With Fight Night Round 4 set to deliver a knockout with industry-leading visuals and genre-defining gameplay later this month, I couldn't be more excited to announce the expansion of our combat sports strategy with EA SPORTS MMA coming in 2010," said EA SPORTS President Peter Moore.  "Fans have been begging EA SPORTS to get into the cage, and EA SPORTS MMA will put them in control of the sport's unique combat experience while finally, in an immersive interactive experience, capturing the raw intensity that has made mixed martial arts one of the fastest growing sports in the world.  We're ready for the fight."

The EA Tiburon studio carries a successful legacy, and is a leader in innovation, within sports video games.  In August of 2008, EA Tiburon was named by GamePro Magazine as one of the top eight most powerful studios in the entire gaming industry.  It is home to highly touted franchises, such as Madden NFL, NCAA® Football and Tiger Woods PGA TOUR®

I have been playing FIGHT NIGHT since the first one came out and Ive never had a problem with it. yea this new fight night round 4 was a major diappointment but it was only due to its new controler, I dont see any other problems with it, yet I must say once I did get used to its new controls I can say it got better...also I do own UFC and yes its gameplay isnt boring and the fighting does not get tired but its online game play is a little wack.... soo yes I do pick fight night over UFC and I cant wait to see what EA is goin to bring with MMA

Ya EA I hope yall choke trying to monopolize on everything yall aint that good for one.Yall done messed up Fight Night and NCAA Football 10. Yall take something good like fight night 3 and NCAA 09 and try to make it better but instead make it worse i'm mean whats up with create a player on NCAA 10 that is the ugliest create a player I have ever seen. Fight Night aint a whole lot better either all you get to pick is a couple of pre made face that you cant edit and no tattoos whats up with that. Yall who think EA is so good is because they bought out everybody cuz they were losing the 2k battle with the NFL which I still love that game. Better than listening to Maddens annoying voice. I also remember Madden 06 that game was a joke and ya ripped everybody off who bought it and laughed at them for buying it. I'm sure glad I didnt and yall think they can make an MMA game ha thats funny there going to choke like they do all their games and rip yall off. But I bet yall like getting ripped EA fans dont yall

This game is going to suck just as FIGHT NIGHT does EA **** at fighting games. UFC is way better than Fight night because they dont have spammers who cheat. YA they do have a cheating problem too much not as much as Fight NIght what a cheat and soory game. I'm sticking with THQ on the MMA games because if its anything like Fight Night its going to suck also there not going to have body but maybe five real fighters and the rest made up its going to suck EA stick with Madden because the college football aint all that good this year either. They have no experience in a fighting game this complex fight night was easy all you have to is run around and punch. MMA is a whole lot more complex than some punching and THQ did a wonderful job on it and ya the online was a little bare but its the first year of many they're going to be even better next year so I'm sticking with THQ on the MMA games

I'm Not Realy Liking UFC Atm It's Lacks Online There Is Not Much Choice For Creation Of a Fighter So If They Put The Creation Progress As FNR4 This Game Should Be Great

Simple, short and to the point:EWC,some legends in MMA and an extensive fighter builder coupled with EA sports huge gamer network. That would make this game Huge!

UFC calibur names or not, if EA decides to add the Photo Game Face feature to its MMA game then it is bound to be a top seller.
There is nothing I enjoy more than putting myself in a game and laying a beat down on somebody.

I honestly believe EA can make a competitive mma title game. Yeah THQ dominates the market right now for two reasons: 1. No one else is in the market 2. They release one game every five years or so.
If EA is serious about competing with THQ (and I know they are) then they should consider going after retired mma fighters and legends. Dana White can't ban a fighter who has no intentions of stepping back into the octagon. EA will just have to bite the gun and suffer through its first mma attempt, then potentially work with UFC in 2012 (THQ has rights to UFC games for 2009 & 2010) or improve whatever needs to be improved to push THQ out of the market all together.

reading some of the post below me I couldn't help but hope all know that even being an EA fanboy that even I know EA lacks in the department of making a superior product that really can compete. And I agree that if EA wants to compete with THQ in UFC then they should open the doors up for others to compete with them in their other sports titles.
But we all know that door opens another will try and lock EA out we can just about bank on that.
