NBA LIVE Challenge Update

January 21, 2009

Welcome to the 2009 NBA Live Challenge bought to you by the folks here at EA SPORTS. This year's NBA Live Challenge returns in search of the best NBA Live gamers around the country.  We will travel to 11 regional stops as one finalist from each city will travel to NBA ALL-STAR weekend in Phoenix, AZ for a chance at $20,000 cash and a $5,000 shopping spree with our official retail sponsor Best Buy.

The EA SPORTS Live Gossip Wire is also back by request to bring you authentic quotes as Commissioner Mike Brown will bring you Q and A coverage with each regional winner.

Sacramento, CA (Arden Fair Mall)

Sacramento Live Wire:

Some gamers take a look at the NBA Live Challenge schedule and put a plan into place to use plenty of "slick-time" from their jobs in order to get their skills up in preparation for their city regional.  Others can't wait and prefer to travel in hopes of grabbing an early regional. Our Sacramento Challenge consisted of 2008 NBA Live regional twin champions, Swaggy and Hands Simmons, Kill Dill, and Jamiah "J-Swith" Anderson accompanied by his mob of killer: Cutty aka J-gutter, Gooch, Cali-King, and Boss.

J-Swith proved that even in 2009, you simply don't mess with the mob, as J-Swith pulled out a tight game against 2008 regional champion, Kill-Dill in the championship game.  In a low scoring but effective game, J-Swith knocked off Kill Dill by a score of 36-30.

After an exciting victory and celebration by J-Swith and his mob, he shared a few thoughts with me:

Commish:  You didn't waste any time traveling this year, what made you come out so early?

J-Swith: We came out early to do what we were supposed to do; we're going to take the first 3 cities early because we plan to run the whole West Coast.  We are going to take the first 3 real fast, fast breaking.

Commish: Did you guys expect that you would see tough competition early on in the challenge?

J-Swith:  We knew that there would be a couple of imposters here today, but we ran through them without any problems, like we knew we would.

Commish: Whom are you referring to when you say imposters?

J-Swith: You know who I'm talking about; I'm talking about Swaggy, Hands, and Kill Dill...the camp ran through all of them. We do what we do because we have had the strongest camp for the past 4 to 5 years now.

Commish: You state that your camp has been strong for the past few years, what happened to you guys during the New Orleans finals last year?

J-Swith:  Too much hanging out and enjoying the experience, I mean it was New Orleans Brown...but this year is different, we need the 20 g's because the camp has to eat.  I wasn't focused enough last year but this year is different.  I'm feeling sharp and strong as iron right now and everyone needs to watch out!

The camp is poised and looking strong early this year, we'll see how their West Coast plans turn out.  See you guys in San Francisco, CA.  Until next time, Commissioner Brown...signing out!
